Copying Favorites to Another Computer
If you have Favorites saved on your computer, they won't show up
automatically on the terminal server. You can copy them, though.
If you only have a few favorites (five or ten), you're better off to just add
them to the new server yourself rather than trying to copy them from your old
computer.
To copy your favorites, you first need to go to your old computer and save
them to a file:
- On your Windows 95 computer, start Internet Explorer.
- On the File menu, choose Import and Export.
- The Import/Export Wizard will appear. Click on the Next button.
- In the list at the left, select "Export Favorites".
- Click the Next button.
- The computer will ask for a source folder. You don't need to make
any changes on this page, so select "Next" again.
- The computer will ask for a destination. Click on the "Browse"
button.
- Locate your U drive folder in the list, and then click the Save button.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Finish button.
- A message will appear that says, "Successfully exported favorites".
Your favorites are now saved to a file in your U drive.
Now, you need to start the Remote Desktop Connection program, log in, and
import the file you just saved.
- Start the Remote Desktop connection and log in the same way you usually
would.
- Start Internet Explorer.
- Click on the File menu, and choose Import and Export.
- The Import/Export Wizard will appear. Click on the Next button.
- In the list at the left, select "Import Favorites".
- Click the Next button.
- The computer will ask where you saved your favorites file. Usually,
it will find this file automatically, so click the Next button again.
- The computer will ask where you want to put the favorites. You don't
need to make any changes on this screen, so click the Next button again.
- Click the Finish button.
- A message will appear that says, "Successfully imported favorites".
