Attention prospective scholarship applicants:

Please remember that it is the applicant's responsibility to be aware of the deadlines and requirements associated with scholarships. Please be certain to pay attention to the AHS deadline if you wish our office to mail the application, and remember that you are ultimately the one responsible for gathering the necessary materials and making sure they are in order. Early submission of materials is strongly encouraged!

The search for money for college can be a time consuming affair, but it is well worth it in the end. Please take the time to browse through the sites below. Should you have questions please don't hesitate to stop by the guidance office and ask our staff.

Helpful procedures for scholarships:

Request materials or letters of recommendation from counselors, teachers, or community members at least 2-3 weeks before the deadline.
Do not wait until the week the scholarship is due! Get it in early.
Be sure to complete your part of the form neatly, following all directions carefully.

Scholarship	Margaret Finney Scholarship
Details	Established by the family of Margaret R. Finney for the purpose of awarding a scholarship to a deserving AHS graduate. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Scholarship	Ashland High School Class of 1959 Scholarship
Details	In celebration of the many friendships made while attending Ashland City Schools the Class of 1959 has voted to fund a scholarship in their name to be allocated to qualifying graduates from Ashland High School.

Scholarship	Jason Jakubowski Memorial Scholarship
Details	Jason Jakubowski was an outstanding student at Ashland High School. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1993 with high honors, and was well on his way to reaching his dream of becoming an astronaut. He was tragically killed while flying a mission in his F-18. His family has provided the funding for this scholarship in loving memory of Jason.
Eligibility	Candidates will be judged on the basis of: • Academic merit • Extracurricular Activities • Career goals that include a strong desire to serve the country in some capacity (This does not necessarily mean military service - could be government service, peace corps, helping professions etc.)

Details	184 scholarships of varied amounts. This scholarship requires a nomination from your state senator or representative. This should be done at least a month before the application due date.

Details

Scholarship	Kim Marquette Memorial Scholarship
Details	A $500 award in memory of Kim Marquette, one of Ashland's finest. Born and raised in Ashland, Kim was a 1974 graduate who was a committed volunteer and leader throughout her life in school, church, and the community. This scholarship is set as a tribute to her in recognizing young men and women who strive to lead similar lives. Those who are actively involved in school activities and volunteer organizations and who demonstrate leadership qualities are most eligible to receive this award.
Eligibility	• Involved in a varsity sport (includes cheerleading, sweet sixteen, and gymnastics ) • Planning to attend a two or four-year institution (must have been accepted) • Minimum 3.0 GPA • Volunteer for organizations at school, church, and the community. ( especially leadership positions within those organizations)

Scholarship	Dr. M.M. & Phyllis Sanders Memorial Scholarship
Details	A highly respected English teacher at AHS, Mrs. Sanders was twice honored by a graduating senior class (1963 & 1977) as its yearbook dedicatee. She took an active interest in her students and kept in touch with many long after their graduation. She and her husband Merwin were avid sports fans and rarely missed an AHS football or basketball game, home or away. Her extracurricular activities included serving as cheerleading advisor. Details	Established to honor a graduate of AHS who has also attended Osborn Elementary School. The benefactor, Biddy Anderson Ward, was an Osborn teacher for 35 years
